Lifetime Commitment: Cats can live 10-20 years, so adopting is a long-term responsibility. Consider future changes like moves, job shifts, or emergencies, and have a plan in place for your pet’s care.
Cost of Care: Owning a cat costs approximately $600–$1,000 per year for food, litter, and basic care. Medical expenses, including emergencies, can add to this. Pet insurance may be a good option for unexpected costs.
No-Declaw Policy: We do not allow adopted cats to be declawed, as it is a painful and unnecessary procedure. If you are looking for a declawed cat, we occasionally take in those already declawed—contact us for availability. (Do we have this)
Indoor-Only Policy: All cats adopted from us must be kept indoors for their safety. If you want to provide outdoor time, we recommend harness training or building a secure cat enclosure. If you’re interested in a barn cat, check out our Working Cats program.
Transporting Your New Cat: For safety, all adopted cats must leave in a secure pet carrier.
Licensing & Local Laws: You are responsible for following local pet ownership laws, including licensing and vaccinations. Check your county’s animal control website for details.
